Aircraft Appliances has manufactured Lube Oil Filter Separators (LOFS) for the DDG 51 programs well as both designs of the LCS Ships. The Filter Separator for the DDG 51 class ship was designed to replace a centrifugal purifier that required significantly more maintenance and consumable parts than the static Filter Separator AAE supplies. The LOFS used on the DDG51 program was designed to flow 8.33 GPM to match the output of the centrifugal purifier and is manufactured out of SS304. This unit has fully automatic controls which can be remotely monitored (profibus) in the ships ECS and has a pump and manifold built into the base. The LOFS only requires 440VAC and does not require hot potable water like centrifugal purifiers. Water separation is achieved through the use of 6” API Approved Coalescer and Separator elements that are currently available in the US Navy Stock system.
